Hole 9/18 Red Staked Area

Posted on: 29 July

The native vegetation area on the left-hand side of Hole 9/18 has been sprayed in preparation for the upcoming redesign of the hole, scheduled to commence at the end of September.

This area and the right hand side vegetation have been marked with red stakes. If your ball enters these areas from your tee shot, you may take relief with a one-shot penalty or play the ball as it lies if you find it without penalty.

Back-on-the-Line Relief (Rule 17.1d(2))

  • Go back on a straight line from the hole through the point where the ball last crossed the edge of the penalty area.
  • Drop anywhere on that line (going as far back as you like), and drop within one club-length of that spot.

Lateral Relief (Rule 17.1d(3)) – Only for Red Penalty Areas

  • Drop a ball within two club-lengths of where the ball last crossed the edge of the red penalty area.
  • The ball must not be nearer the hole than that reference point.

Alternatively, if the ball is found, you may play it as it lies from within the staked area without penalty.
