LOCAL RULES NOTICE BOARDS

Players should refer to the Notice Board outside the Pro Shop or in the Sports Bar for Local Rules changes and notifications.

Local Rules posted on these boards will override any Local Rules printed on the scorecard or on the Website where they are in conflict.

PLAYER INFORMATION

• Distance Markers:  All distance markers are measured to centre of the green.
• Distance Measuring Devices (including mobile phones): may be used as long as other prohibited features are not used.
• Pin Placements: Red – Front, White – Middle, Yellow – Back
• Course Ettiquette:  Course staff have right of way at all times. To ensure good pace of play, please keep up with the group in front. Everyone must carry a sand bucket and fill all their divots. Repair all pitch marks on putting greens. Enter bunkers from lower side and rake after shot.

WGC / RSGC HYBRID COURSE LOCAL RULES

  1. The fence between WGC 8th hole and RSGC 8th hole (played by WGC members as 9th hole) is an internal out of bounds when playing those holes. No play is allowed over or through this fence from RSGC course to WGC course or vice versa.  Rule 18 applies for any ball hit over the fence. When playing the hybrid course, the fence between WGC 8th hole and RSGC 8th hole (played by WGC members as 9th hole) is an internal out of bounds when playing those holes.  No play is allowed over or through this fence from RSGC course to WGC course or vice versa.  Rule 18 applies for any ball hit over the fence. 
  2.  When playing the Centenary course, protective fencing alongside the works areas of the main course mark Abnormal Ground Conditions – No Play Zone. Access to works areas is strictly prohibited, original ball must not be retrieved. 

    Balls played into this area are to be played without penalty under Rule 16. 

    a. If the ball is not found, ball is to be played within one clublength of point of entry.

    b. If the ball is found, ball is to be played within one clublength of nearest point of relief


WGC LOCAL RULES

All players are expected to know the Rules of Golf and Definitions to which the below Local Rules refer.

1. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION – NO PLAY ZONE – RULE 16.1f
All areas marked by blue lines are no play zones that are to be treated as an abnormal course condition. Free relief MUST be taken from interference by the no play zone.

ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION – PLAY OPTIONAL ZONE – RULE 16.1f

All areas marked by white lines are play optional zones that are to be treated as an abnormal course condition. Free relief may be taken from interference by the Abnormal Course Condition or the ball may be played from within the Abnormal Course Condition. 

2. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS – RULE 16
• Bridge approaches constructed of rubber matting, brick, clay, road bed or concrete
• All stakes, plates, paving bricks defining Penalty Areas
• The metal posts and stanchions supporting the protection netting fence behind the second green area
• The protection fence alongside the 7th / 14th tees
• All roads or paths made of concrete, bitumen, rubber matting or paving bricks and any wooden borders to these roads / paths
• All rubbish bins set into a concrete base, sand containers, seating and ball cleaners, or notice signs set into a concrete base

3. INTEGRAL OBJECTS – RULE 8.1a
All planted and mulched areas. No free relief is available from play in these areas.

4. PENALTY AREAS – RULE 17
• Red Penalty Areas are defined by
o red stakes, lines, paving bricks or red painting on fences, garden wooden borders or pavements.
o Beyond the course side edge of concrete canal walls which are marked as a Red Penalty Area
o Beyond the course side edge of rock canal walls which are marked as a Red Penalty Area
• Yellow Penalty Areas are defined by yellow stakes, lines, paving bricks or yellow painting on fences, garden wooden borders or pavements.

5. OUT OF BOUNDS – RULE 18
• Beyond all fences forming the boundaries of the Course whether or not marked with white painting.
• Areas marked with white stakes, lines or paving bricks or white painting on fences, garden wooden borders or pavements.
• Beyond the course side edge of concrete canal walls which are marked as Out of Bounds.
• Beyond the course side edge of rock canal walls which are marked as Out of Bounds.

6. SPRINKLER HEADS / IRRIGATION CONTROL COVER – RULE 16.1b
The player may take relief if a sprinkler head or an irrigation control cover on the Line of Play and is
• Within two club lengths of the putting green and
• Within two club lengths of the ball
• and the ball is within the General Area of the course
Exception – No Relief If Line of Play Clearly Unreasonable. There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.

7. 11th HOLE INTERNAL OUT OF BOUNDS – RULE 18
When playing the 11th hole only, out of bounds is marked by white stakes alongside the 3rd / 12 fairways and includes the canal area right of white stakes placed either side of the canal. White markings on the canal edgings in this area relate only when playing the 11th hole.

When playing any hole other than the 11th, the white stakes alongside the 3rd / 12th holes (which mark Out of Bounds when playing the 11th hole only) are immovable obstructions and relief may be obtained under Rule 16.1b – Relief from Abnormal Course Conditions. Additionally, Line of Play relief is available if the ball is within 2 club lengths of the stake and interferes with the line of play.

8. Play of 7th/16th and 8th/17th Holes Drop Zones
When playing the 7th/16th or 8th/17th holes, if a ball strikes the Moreton Bay Fig situated at the canal between the fairways of these holes, and it is known or virtually certain that the ball is in the penalty area (in canal), and it is not certain where the ball last crossed the penalty area boundary, then drop zones formed by markers painted in orange paint, situated on the tee side of the canal of the hole being played, may be used as a drop zone when playing the next shot under Rule 17.1(d). When using these drop zones, the relief area is within 2 club lengths of the marker utilised.
